The First Time Shoot

The first time we were filming was on a Sunday and we went to Edgewear, where Clara’s house is. When we arrived , we looked around to see if we have the locations that we planed in class. We did not have some of the shots we planed but it worked really well after we did the editing. After planning what shots we are going to have , we started shooting the film which was around 5pm. We started shooting the outside shots which was the ones that the killer/hit man comes into the house area, because it was not dark we did not use lighting. After we shoot the outside shots we went inside and shoot the girls part in the bathroom. Then we shot the killer coming up stairs which was really hard because we tried doing a over the shoulder shot but it did not work so we shot from different angles. When it was really dark, and darker then the other shots we descried to shot the over half of the film on another film.

So the next day we had media, and after looking at our film we saw that the outside shots looked really dark and you could not see a thing that was happening. So we had to shot the shots outside again but the shots in the bathroom looked really good so we edited it. After editing we planed to shoot the other half of the film on the weekend and do the shots outside again with the light. So on the weekend when calling the group to check if we are going, some people could not come so we had to cancel it. After coming back we planed to film on the coming Thursday and on Thursdays we called Billy which is our killer/hit man and he said he broke his leg and couldn’t come. So max had to ask his friend to come and act for us. And at the end we had Ben to replace Billy’s roll. After arriving at 6pm we started with a rash and forgot about the lights. We went outside to re shoot the shots that did not work and yet again it come out to be dark and the camera was coming out of focus. Have had finish all of the filming and shot the parts that Billy was in with Ben. After going to college on Friday we watched our film and again we did not see anything because it was really dark, darker then before. So we were running out of time so we had to film on the end week and finish it on the weekend. After calling everyone on Friday to check if they are coming , Ben had plans so he could not have make it as well. We had no one to act the killer. After I called my brother and asked him if we can come, we planed to film on Sunday. So on Sunday we met at 4pm and arrived at 5pm at Edgewear. So we were at Clara’s house we planed to wait until it really dark because this time we have got the lights. So when it was around 6pm, we went outside and started shooting the shots outside with the light. It was really hard to descried were to put the light and setting the camera as well. When using the light , because there was shadow we kept on changing the angles the light was in so it took really long. After finishing with the alleyway we went to the back garden where the killer comes into the house from. Because we had only one light there was a big shadow and we descried to shoot this shot on another day were we have two lights. So after finishing the outside shoots we went inside to shoot the girl in the wardrobe which we closed the lights in the bedroom and opened one of the wardrobe rooms so that we can have the camera set in and we had the light on from the floor which looked really effective. After we done the things we had to do, we went home. On Monday we looked at the shots and it worked really well so we started to but the clips together but with the one that go together, we did not mix them up with each other because we did not want to mix up them. We keep them separate and started working on the sound and title sequence which we need examples to get an idea of how the title and sound is in a really media production.

So next film day was on Monday afternoon. So we went to the house and started shooting because it was getting really dark. So we started with the shot of the house from the back ground from the killers point of view shot. The point of view shot was really hard, harder then what we expected because the shadow was a big problem. The shadow was all ways blocking the window of the bedroom so we used two lights and changed the angles. This shot took us about 30 minutes because we had to wait for the light to be dimmer and when waiting the lights went out until we got the right shot . When it took 30 minutes , we had to change the batteries for the lights because it only last for only 20 minutes. After getting the right shot we wanted , our next shooting was in the corridor which the killer comes in and walks towards the stairs. So after we got the shot down stairs we went up stairs and started to plan where and how are we going to shoot the victim getting into the wardrobe. After planning we started shooting but some of the shots did not word so we tried different types of shoots which some worded really well. After finishing the filming the next day we started editing and then we mixed up the shots so the timing could we right. After finishing with editing , me and Max started to do the title sequence. When doing this we did not know what to have for the title sequence so we opened the opening scene on the Se7en and wrote done which ones the include in the title sequence. So we done it and needed to finish the sound track but because we did not have time we left it for the next day. So on the Wednesday’s lesson we finished the sound after looking at different thriller films so we can see what type of sound effects has been used. After finishing with the sound, Dan had a look and said that the editing is good at the beginning but towards the end it does not build tension. So he showed us a scene from Halloween , were there is a scene when the killer comes into the house and the women in the house hides in the wardrobe. So when watching it relayed that our film was much slower and we need to show the killer and the victim in the same time to build up tension. So after watching Halloween we starting editing again and made it more tensed by show the victim going into the wardrobe and then to the killer which is coming up the stairs. After finishing the editing we had to change some bits of the soundtrack to make it much better then before.
